Novant to open first concierge medicine practice in Charlotte

Staff Writer-Charlotte Business Journal

Novant Health Inc. will open its first concierge medicine practice in Charlotte on Nov. 18.

That physician group, called Hallmark Care, will provide patients with increased access to primary care and enhanced services, including coordination of specialty care, more one-on-one time with their doctor and 24/7 access to the care team.

The Hallmark Care practice at 2801 Randolph Road also offers an on-site diagnostic lab and X-ray services.

Patients will pay a $2,400 annual fee to be a member of the medical practice.

Dr. Lillian Teigland will be the primary doctor caring for those patients, with Drs.Hayes Woollen and Christopher Snyderserving as back-up physicians when necessary. Hospital care will be provided by Dr. K.D. Weeks.

“It can make the patient’s experience seamless at whatever level of care they need,” Teigland says.

Concierge medicine is about providing a more personalized approach to care, she adds.

For example, a typical office visit could last up to 60 minutes, compared with 10 to 15 in a traditional setting. Patients will spend less time waiting to see a physician, with same-day appointments available. And they will have 24-7 access to physicians via email, video and phone.

“This was a way for patients to get more face time with their physicians,” Teigland says.

That means more time spent with patients, getting to know them and what makes them tick, she adds. It also allows for a more proactive approach to health and disease-prevention.
